about me?

Have you ever tried to write a bio about yourself? It’s impossible. Your mind wanders. Your writing style becomes cornier and cornier. It’s the most difficult thing I’ve ever tried to write. It seems like it either ends up being way too involved (i.e., I was born, etc…) or simply too sterile, like a resume or something.

So I thought, what if I had a Q&A with things that people might be curious to know about me? If you have any suggestions for questions for my little Q&A, please leave them in the comments.

  1. Danielle,
Congratulations on finishing your degree! Since I’ve read through your archives I think I have a pretty good sense of you fashion-wise. Here are a couple lingering questions that I have though:
In past posts you’ve mentioned how in the transition from high school to university you were on the fence about fashion or english (or whatever). What made you choose the fashion route? Were you the type that grew up sewing and designing? Where/how did you learn to sew?
I know from previous posts that you grew up far from any urban, fashion-y places but what were/are your fashion inspirations? Was your mom into fashion? Did you read the glossies? I guess what I’d like to know is how did you become interested in fashion and what propelled you into this area?

    Thanks!

  2. Congratulations on your graduation — and your collection! (I have a soft spot for jackets, since I wear them all the time, and yours looks particularly clever and flattering, with a bit of an edge. It’s nice to see the sort of “armor” that will get a woman through the day, as opposed to a just a cocktail party.)

A bit of stock advice: read any and all contracts carefully, hang on to your name, and don’t forget to register your logos/trademarks as you develop them!

    All the best,
